Streaming service statistics 2021 compared to 2020 by revenue

We took the ARPU, average revenue per user as per the reported subscriber amount to create the following estimations. This is a loose figure, but it should deliver us the basic insights in order for us to understand and digest the revenues in a way we all can understand.

What’s interesting, is that Netflix see’s a 20.21% increase in year-over-year revenue, and while it appears this figure is slowing down, it is likely attributed to the overall streaming market being adopted so rapidly in the past 5-10 years, rather than a decline in growth and subscriber adoption.

The following table is the streaming service statistics in the past few years based on revenue (estimated). updates will occur on our end as data develops.

*Note- Amazon also offers more than just video, such as one or two day shipping on packages. Since Amazon does not release the ARPU, we have based our data on the total cost per subscription.

Disney plus estimates were based on CEO Bob Chapek, explaining that 25% of its total revenue came from streaming entities (this include ESPN and Hulu). Our estimates are based off this.
