The market is brimming with diverse Roku channels, each promising a unique viewing journey. Our process of finding the best Roku channels centered around three main factors – content, cost, and viewership ratings.

The content quality and diversity take precedence as viewers are always seeking an engaging viewing experience. Thus, having a variety of genres and regularly updated content became crucial evaluation parameters.

Next, we assessed the cost factor. Keep in mind, our objective was to present a balanced mix of both free and premium Roku channels. Thus, we looked into subscription costs, any hidden charges, and the value for money that these channels offered.

Lastly, viewership ratings played a significant role in our making the final selection. By assessing viewers’ feedback and their satisfaction levels, we could deduce the user experience of these channels. This holistic evaluation facilitated the thorough filtering of channels to the final 20 best Roku channels for you to add to your list.

By analyzing critical factors like genres offered, whether free or paid, and other salient features, a comparison chart serves as a go-to guide for the viewers seeking the best platform.

Let’s consider an example; while comparing Hulu and Netflix, both offer a multitude of content from various genres, but Hulu stands out by offering Live TV. However, Netflix leans ahead with an array of worldwide acclaimed original series. Similarly, DAZN and ESPN Plus are both sports-focused platforms, but DAZN might be a better choice for combat sports enthusiasts as it streams numerous live boxing events.

How to Access the Roku Channels

Getting started with Roku channels isn’t complicated, in fact it’s less complicated than the FireStick models, Nvidia Shield TV Pro, Apple TV, and other Streaming devices. The first step is to set up your Roku device, whether it’s a Roku TV, Roku stick, or standalone device.

Once connected to your TV and Wi-Fi, you’ll be guided through creating a Roku account, if you don’t already have one. In the Roku home menu, scroll to ‘Streaming Channels’, this opens Roku’s Channel Store. Herein, you’ll find thousands of channel options divided into categories: Featured, Top Free, Just Added, and so on. Click on any channel that fascinates you, hit ‘Add Channel’, and voila!

One advantage of the Roku platform is that it’s update-friendly. It periodically seeks out updates for all your installed channels, keeping them current. This usually happens when the device is idle. But, if you’re impatient, go to the Settings menu, select System, then select System update, and Click on ‘Check now’. This prompts a manual check and installation of any available updates.

Side note: For convenience, consider adding your most-used channels to the Roku home screen. Navigate to the channel on the home screen, press the ‘*’ button on your Roku remote, then click ‘Move channel’, and reorder as you wish. Remember, the topmost channels load first.

What Other Options You Have Besides Roku Channels

While Roku channels offer a wide variety of compelling programming, be it movies, shows, sports, or news, they are not your only recourse. There thoroughly exist other streaming platforms like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google Chromecast where you can explore different content.

Amazon Fire TV, for instance, lets you explore a vast content library, from Amazon Prime Video to Netflix, Hulu to Disney Plus. It also supports Alexa voice control. If you’re part of the Apple ecosystem, you might appreciate Apple TV. It supports all the major streaming platforms and benefits from Apple’s stellar user interface. Google Chromecast differs slightly from Roku and its kin in that it is designed to ‘cast’ content from your computer or mobile device directly to your TV.

Regardless of your choice, keep in mind that it should align with the services you wish to access, your tech compatibility, and of course, your budget. If, for example, you are an ardent user of Google applications, Google Chromecast might be more user-friendly for you.

Utilizing the “Hotel & Dorm Connect” feature

The “Hotel & Dorm Connect” feature is one of Roku’s most helpful features for individuals who love to travel. Ever been in a hotel room or college dorm, trying to connect to the public Wi-Fi, but find the process overly complicated due to those pesky sign-in pages that pop up on your browser? Roku offers a solution.

This feature lets you connect your Roku streaming device to networks that need sign-in through a web page. To do this, first, take note of the Wi-Fi network you’re trying to connect to. Configure your device normally and when the Wi-Fi connection fails (because of the browser sign-in page), the Hotel & Dorm Connect option pops up. Select it to proceed.

Next, connect a second device (like a smartphone or laptop) to the Wi-Fi network. A code will appear on the TV screen—enter this on the second device’s browser to access the sign-in page. Here, accept the terms of use or enter the password, and the Roku device will connect to the internet. One advantage of this process is that it saves you from the hassle of typing complex passwords on the Roku remote.

Hidden Roku Features

Roku is well-loved for its extensive range of available channels and its easy-to-navigate user interface. However, there’s a lot more to Roku; various hidden features enhance the user experience exponentially.

Consider, for instance, the My Feed feature. This is an invaluable tool that lets you track the movies and shows you want to watch. Once you’ve added a movie or show to your feed, Roku will notify you when it becomes available on any of the Roku channels. It’s simple to use – just go to the My Feed section on the home screen, find a movie or show you’re interested in, and press OK to follow it on Roku.

Hidden Menus and Settings

Optimal Roku secret settings

Roku also hosts secret menus that are largely unknown to most users. These menus allow you to fine-tune your Roku device’s settings, making it perform more effectively. One such hidden menu helps you adjust the bit rate to reduce buffering or improve video quality.

To access this menu, perform a sequence of button presses on your remote—press the home button five times, then rewind three times, and then press fast forward twice. A secret bit rate override menu appears, where you can pick the bit rate that best meets your network’s capacity. Keep in mind, though, that it’s essential to accurately assess your network’s capacity before making changes to avoid unwanted consequences.

Utilizing the ‘Play on Roku’ feature

The Play on Roku feature is another gem that’s not commonly known. This feature lets you stream photos, music, and videos stored on your phone directly on your TV. Think of it as your private, big-screen slideshow or music player.

This feature can be found in the Roku mobile app. To access it, open the app, select the ‘Photos+’ option, and choose between Music, Photos, or Videos. Pick the files you want to play and then sit back and enjoy. One advantage here is that while you’re streaming, you can still use your phone for other tasks without it interrupting the streaming on your TV.

Picture-in-picture capability on Roku

In the realm of streaming devices, one advantage of Roku is its notable picture-in-picture feature. This mode allows you to concurrently watch one channel while another type of content plays in a small window. As a perfect tool for multitaskers, you can watch two sports games at the same time, or keep an eye on the latest news while watching your favorite shows. Keep in mind, however, that the picture-in-picture feature is exclusive to select Roku devices and requires Roku OS 9.4 or later.

Roku’s picture-in-picture capability is intuitive to use. Through the Live TV Pause feature on the Roku Channel, you can press the star button on your Roku remote to activate the picture-in-picture mode. This grants you access to a mini guide, where you can browse through other live channels while maintaining your current selection on a minimized screen.

In conclusion, the picture-in-picture capability of Roku is a standout feature amongst streaming devices. This provides a robust multitasking environment for users to simultaneously engage with multiple channels or to not miss crucial moments while searching for other content.

Enabling developer mode for sideloading apps

Developer mode is a unique and intriguing offering of Roku, essentially permitting the sideloading of apps that aren’t listed on the Roku Channel Store. To access developer mode, navigate to the settings home screen, then select System -> About where you’ll find the IP address and a web interface to work with. Keep in mind however, enabling developer mode requires a secret key combination – done by pressing the buttons Home three times, then Up twice, followed by Right, Left, Right, Left, and Right.

Confirm that you wish to install a non-certified channel, after which you’ll be requested to set up a web server password. This carries immense importance, as it serves as a safety gatekeeper to repel potential hackers. Do remember to jot this password down, lest you face a factory reset, the only way to retrieve a forgotten password.

This sideload feature is particularly beneficial for tech-savvy users who wish to harness the full potential of Roku’s software capabilities. While Roku does support a plethora of apps and channels, some may not be listed. Hence, sideloading can be quite advantageous for these niche applications.

Private listening using Roku remote

The Roku platform offers the unique “Private Listening” feature that creates a private sound bubble, directing all audio to your headphones rather than TV speakers. This proves beneficial in situations where you do not want to disturb others around you or want to enjoy a movie without any external interruptions. Accessing this feature is incredibly easy – simply plug in your headphone jack into your Roku remote or mobile device.

While using the Roku remote, the audio immediately reroutes to the headphones once connected, offering an effortless switch. If you’re using the Roku mobile app, tap on the headphone icon after launching the controller screen. The sound will instantly shift to your headphones, ensuring an immersive and private listening experience.

In this post, I’ll show you how to pair, unpair, and program an Xfinity Remote to your TV, no matter what type of Smart TV you’re using.

Additionally, I’ll also discuss alternate methods to pair and program to specific TV models. My goal was to create the most comprehensive guide on this topic because there is so much confusion around this.

How to Pair an Xfinity remote to a TV

How to Pair an Xfinity remote to a TV

Pairing an Xfinity remote to a third-party TV is easier than what you may think. In fact, all you need to do is use the pairing button or insert a specific code, and you’re all set.

Still, every remote and TV brand has different codes and connectivity processes (which can be tricky – I researched all this for my audience)

So, let’s have a look at how you can program & pair Xfinity remote to your TV, no matter the brand of the TV or the remote model:

How to pair a XR15 remote to a TV

How to pair a XR15 remote to a TV

The XR15 voice remote is one of Xfinity’s most flexible remotes when it comes to connectivity. In fact, this model can be connected to almost any TV on the market. The process is very easy and doesn’t require any technical knowledge. In fact, all you need to do is:

  1. Install the batteries at your XR15 remote and make sure it works properly
  2. Turn on your TV. While the TV is on, all you have to do is press the Xfinity and Mute buttons and hold them for 5 seconds
  3. After 5 seconds, you will notice that the light of the remote will turn from red to green
  4. Once the light is green, you have to input the code listed for your TV. This depends on the manufacturer. For example, if you own an LG TV, the most common code is 12731.
  5. This should connect the Xfinity XR15 to your TV. Try turning off the TV by pressing the Power button. If that doesn’t work, try to repeat the process and enter a different code (i.e. for LG devices, you can try 11756, 10178, 11178, etc).

This simple process will allow you to connect a XR15 remote to a TV. Depending on your TV manufacturer, there are different codes that you can try to connect your XR15. To find the suitable codes, you can visit the Xfinity official website, select the XR15 remote, and choose the brand of your TV from the menu.

If none of the codes work, there’s probably a software issue with your remote. To solve it, you can perform a factory reset. All you need to do is press and hold (for about 5 seconds) the A and D button on your XR15. Press the code (9-8-1) and wait for the remote to conduct factory reset.

How to pair a XR11 remote to a TV

How to pair a XR11 remote to a TV

Unlike the XR15 remote we examined above, the XR11 can be connected to a TV in two different ways: either by using a code or by using the RF pairing. Although the code pairing process is similar to that of XR15, there are some differences:

  1. Turn on the TV and make sure that your XR11 is functional
  2. From your remote, press and hold the Setup button for approximately 5 seconds, or until the light turns green
  3. Type one of the codes that Xfinity suggests depending on your TV manufacturer. If your XR11 is connected, the green light should flash green (2 times). If it turns red, try entering a different code from the list
  4. If the light flashed green, the setup was complete. Make sure that the pairing process is complete by turning off the TV

At the same time, you can connect a XR11 to a TV by using the RF pairing mode. For this to work, you need to have the remote, a set-top box and a TV. Install the batteries to your XR11 and make sure that both your TV and box are powered on.

Then, all you need to do is press the Setup button and hold it until the light flashes green. Press the Xfinity button. If done correctly, a 3 digit code should appear on your screen. All you need to do is enter it on your remote, and you’re good to go.

How to pair a XR2 remote to TV

How to pair a XR2 remote to TV

The XR2 is one of the most popular Xfinity remotes. Mainly due to its large buttons and flexibility, it is considered a top-notch choice for seniors. The programming process is also very easy. To be precise, you can easily connect the XR2 remote to any TV if you have the correct code:

  1. Turn on the TV and make sure that your XR2 is functional (check the batteries and press a button to see if the light blinks red)
  2. Press and hold the Setup button (bottom left) for approximately 5 seconds. Once the light turns green, it is time to set up the code
  3. Depending on your TV, there are 4 and 5-digit codes that will allow you to connect the XR2 remote
  4. After inputting the code, check if the light blinks green twice. If so, the pairing is complete. If not, try a different code
  5. Once you’ve found the correct code, test your remote to see if it is actually connected to your TV

How to program a XR2 remote to work with a non Xfinity TV Box

How to program a XR2 remote to work with a non Xfinity TV Box

Thankfully, all Xfinity remotes can be connected to a non-Xfinity TV box (Motorola, RNG, DTAs, Sisco, etc). Yet, for the pairing process to be successful, you first need to reprogram your remote.

That’s not a particularly challenging task and won’t harm your remote in any way. In fact, all you need to do to pair xfinity remote with box is hold the Setup button for a few seconds, until the light blinks green. Then, you should press either A, B, or C from your remote.

Of course, that depends on the TV box manufacturer. For example, you should press A for RNG and DTA boxes, B for Motorola boxes and C for Cisco and Scientific Atlanta boxes. After doing that, the pairing xfinity remote process is very simple:

  1. Press and hold the Setup button until the light turns to green
  2. Enter the 5-digit code suggested for your TV box manufacturer
  3. If the light blinks green twice, you’re all set.

How to pair an Xfinity remote to a different TV

How to pair an Xfinity remote to a different TV

Although all Xfinity remotes can be connected to almost every third-party TV, the process isn’t always the same. For example, if you have a Samsung TV, you have to input specific codes to connect an Xfinity remote to a TV.

Apart from the different codes depending on the TV manufacturer, the pairing process is pretty similar. To connect an Xfinity remote to a different TV, you should always make sure that your TV is on and that your remote is functional.

Not typical, but the issue could be related to your internet? See: Xfinity Throttling: Why your Xfinity internet is so Slow (Fix)

After doing that, all that’s left is for you to install the code. Start by holding the Xfinity or Setup button (depending on the remote model) for a few seconds. After the remote light turns green, you can input the (3-digit, 4-digit, or 5-digit) code.

How to unpair an Xfinity remote from TV box

How to unpair an Xfinity remote from TV box

There are times where you need to unpair your Xfinity remote from a TV box. This could happen if your TV box isn’t working properly or if you want to pair your Xfinity remote to a different device (TV, soundbar, etc).

So, how to disconnect an xfinity remote from a tv? Thankfully, unpairing an Xfinity remote from the TV box is very easy. Yet, it depends on the Xfinity remote model:

  • If your remote has a Setup button, press and hold it for 3-5 seconds until the light turns green. Enter the code 9-8-1 and wait for the light to blink green (twice). You’re all set.
  • If your remote doesn’t have a Setup button (XR15, X1, Flex Voice): Hold the A and D buttons for 3-5 seconds until the status light turns from red to green. Enter the 9-8-1 code and wait for a few seconds. The pairing will be turned off automatically.
  • If your remote doesn’t have a Setup button or number keys (XR16 Flex Voice): Press the Info and Home buttons together and hold them for 3-5 seconds. Once the LED light flashes, press the Power / Last (left arrow) and volume down buttons.

If none of the above works, there’s probably a hardware issue with your remote. In any case, before you get rid of your Xfinity device, you can visit the xfinity.com/unpair or contact the Xfinity support team. Usually, the support team will help you unpair the remote or pair to cable box.

How to unpair an Xfinity remote from soundbar

How to unpair an Xfinity remote from soundbar

An Xfinity remote can’t connect to more than one device. So, if you have your remote connected to a soundbar and you want to re pair remote to a different device, you first need to unpair it from the soundbar.

To unpair an Xfinity remote from the soundbar: Depending on the remote model, you should press and hold the Setup or A and D buttons until the light blinks green. Then all you have to do is insert the code 9-8-1. For the XR16 remote, you should press and hold the info and home buttons followed by the Power + Last + Volume Down buttons.

This is the easiest (and official) way to unpair your Xfinity remote from your soundbar. After doing that, you can re program remote to a different device like a new TV or TV Box.

How to pair an xfinity remote to Roku TV

Whether you own an Element Roku TV or a TCL Roku TV, you can easily pair your TV to an Xfinity remote by following a few simple steps. The first thing you need to do is turn on your TCL or Element TV and make sure that your remote works (check the batteries).

After doing that, the process varies depending on the model of your Xfinity remote. If your remote has a Setup button you need to press and hold it for a few seconds. You will notice that the light will turn green. When that happens, all that’s left is for you to install the correct code. For both Element and TCL Roku TVs, the most common code is 11756

Note: if Xfinity isn’t working Roku, there are additional solutions we tested and are confirmed working.

At the same time, there are some Xfinity remotes that don’t have a setup button. If that’s the case with your remote, you should either hold the A and D buttons (for: XR15, pair X1 remote control, Flex Voice) or the Info and Home (XR16 Flex Voice) buttons. After that step, the process is the same.

Why is my Samsung or LG TV not responding to the Xfinity remote?

Unfortunately, there are times that your TV will stop responding to the Xfinity remote or the Roku remote won’t pair to a TV. Thankfully, if you identify the reason there is always something you can do to solve the issue.

In most cases, the problem isn’t about your TV. On the flip side, there could be a software or hardware issue related to your remote. The most common reasons why a Samsung or LG TV stops responding to an Xfinity remote are:

  1. Low battery: The first thing you need to do is replace your remote batteries to make sure that insufficient power isn’t the problem’s root.
  2. Broken buttons: There are times when certain buttons are broken. Make sure to check if some of the remote buttons are still working. If so, it may be time to replace your Xfinity remote.
  3. Damaged remote: In some cases, there is a deeper hardware issue related to your remote (e.g. static electricity). Again, taking the device to a technician or replacing the remote are the safest solutions.

How to Remove TV And Audio Receiver Control

Removing a TV and audio receiver control from an Xfinity remote is actually very easy. Xfinity provides an official way to do it. Most specifically, the first thing you need to do is press and hold the Setup button for a few seconds.

After the status light blinks green, it is time to enter the code 9-8-6. In most cases, the LED will blink green 2 times. If that happens, you have successfully removed the TV and audio receiver control.

Still there are times when this won’t do the trick. If that’s the case with you, the best thing you can do is hard reset your Xfinity remote. To do that, you should hold the Setup button and once the light turns green press the code 9-8-1.

How to pair an Xfinity remote to Samsung, Vizio, Bose or Yamaha Soundbar

Xfinity remotes were designed to work with most TVS and devices. So if you have an Xfinity remote, whether the X1 or XR models, they can be programmed to not only a soundbar, but denon receivers and several smart home devices as well.

Here’s how you can pair any Xfinity remote to a Samung, VIZIO, Bose, or Yamaha soundbar:

  1. Make sure the soundbar is set as the default receiver for audio – each soundbar is different, but will allow this setting to be set.
  2. Your Xfinity X1 remote should have a Setup button; hold it for 5-7 seconds.
  3. Enter the 5 Digit code using the remote code tool.
  4. You’ll see the LED light blink twice on the Xfintity remote.
  5. Finally ,test the remote and soundbar and set up the remainder of preferences.
  6. Congratulations, you have paired a Xfinity remote to your soundbar.

If you’re using a X15 or similar model, you’ll want to make sure the output receiver is found by holding the A & D buttons on the remote. Once it turns green (from red) you’re good to go. You’ll enter the 3 digital PIN code the same way you would on a standard remote.

How to pair an Xfinity remote with Denon receiver

Pairing an Xfinity Remote to a receiver has had a number of issues over the years. However, after some research my tech team found a few ways to make this work.

You must pair the Xfinity remote to the audio receiver before you pair it to your TV.

If you have tried to pair and program your Xfinity remote to your receiver and have eperienced issues, then you’ll want to first factory reset, manually pair the remote to the audio receiver and finally manually pair your remote to your smart TV.

  1. First, make sure that all devices are powered on
  2. Ensure the batteries for the Voice Remote are working properly.
  3. Next, the TV input needs to be set to the input connected to the Xfinity TV box. This should show on the screen
  4. For 5-7 seconds, hold down the Xfinity and Info buttons simutaneously.
  5. The Voice Remote light will turn green (from red).
  6. The 3 digit PIN code (or pairing code) can be found on-screen. Just follow the instructions.
  7. You will be able to pair your Voice Remote with the TV Box at this point.
  8. You can now set up the remainder of settings; such as your TV’s power, volume, and input control. Now your remote can also control these settings.

Some users have reported that holding the mute button along with the “Xfinity” button for 5-7 seconds on your Remote will also work the same way.

This should be an alternate method and not used first. If you have a X16 remote, simple pull the back of the tab on the back of the remote and press the microphone buttons, this will allow you to pair the devices (it’s a much easier option).

To locate the setup button on Xfinity Remotes, simply find search at the top right of your remote. Occasionally you’ll find the at the bottom left. This should be very easy to find since it is a word and not a number; and it is normally quite a large button in comparison to the others on the remote.

During my tests, I found that the camera system sets a new high with a 13MP primary, 6MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP selfie camera, giving you the best tablet photography experience.

See the renders of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Design + Video, this could be the upgrade your looking for when its released if the S8 doesn’t suit you.

The tablet’s slim design and included S Pen make it more user-friendly, while the 10,090mAh battery ensures a durable usage time. However, the lack of a headphone jack and widescreen ratio could be limiting for some users.

Running on Android 13 with One UI 5, this tablet is set to receive Android 12L update, promising a brighter future for Android tablets. The price starts at $899.99, and with Samsung’s promise of updates for several years, the Tab S8+ is indeed a worthwhile investment in the tablet market.

With heavy use, the tablet can last through two days of gaming and multi-window apps

Accessories: An S Pen, bundled with the tablet, is perfect for drawing, note taking, annotating documents, and navigation. On this aspect, the Tab S8+ beats the iPad Pro, which still requires a separate purchase for its Apple Pencil. The magnetic connector for the S Pen is reportedly not as powerful as the iPad Pro’s, though, so it might be easy to lose the Pen.

2. Fire HD 10: Largest Tablet out of the Amazon Fire tablet models

Fire HD 10_ Largest Tablet out of the Amazon Fire tablet models

The FireOS actually runs on a modified version of Android called the FireOS. So keep this in mind before choosing the tablet as the user interface is unique to a android.

Display: It’s a budget tablet with a 10.1-inch full HD display and incredibly affordable. The tablet also comes in 4 different colors.

This is an Amazon tablet so it has its own Amazon app store, which has a smaller library than Google Play or App Store.

One thing I really like is that its possible to Jailbreak the Amazon Fire HD Tablet which allows you to get extra features by rooting it.

  • It does not come pre-installed with YouTube or Chrome or other Google proprietary apps but there is a way to install Google Play Store. For non-techies, however, this may be a bit difficult.

See: Amazon Fire HD vs Samsung Tablet models (Compared)

For this price point, there will be a few compromises but there are upsides as well.

Storage: The Fire HD 10 comes with 32GB or 64GB storage only. This may seem small for those who want to download a lot of apps or save many huge files like high-res photos, music, podcasts, ebooks. Thankfully, it comes with a microSD slot so you can expand storage up to 512GB.

Battery life is being reported by users to range from 11 to 13 hours of average use on a full charge. A heavy test streaming HD video over WiFi at full brightness saw the battery going for a little over 8 hours.

Accessories: Those who like to take pictures with their devices will find Fire HD 10 a bit of a disappointment as it only has 2MP for both rear- and front-facing cameras.

But the sound from quad speakers found on the sides of the tablet are not bad at all for the price. And, this works seamlessly with Alexa, even when the screen is off.

If you are willing to go with a lesser known brand, you will probably get more for your buck with the VANKYO MatrixPad S21.

Display: This tablet comes with a 10-inch screen, a stylus, and a keyboard! Plus, it has 4GB RAM, an octa-core chipset, and 64GB storage, expandable up to 256GB with an SD card. It is hard to find many tablets at this price point with all these features. With most premium tablets, the pen and keyboard are purchased separately.

There is more. It comes with facial recognition technology! This kind of technology is new. And camera buffs, this tablet sports an amazing 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera! Convert itinto a laptop by working with the keyboard and built-in trackpad. Make it a drawing tablet with the stylus. Import PDF files, write down notes, sign or annotate documents easily. The tablet also uses a USB-C charging port, the standard on newer devices.

The MatrixPad S21 has a 6,000mAh battery that can last up to 8 hours on a full charge. You can watch play games, watch movies, check social media, attend Zoom meetings, compose email, do homework, or work online for hours before needing to charge. At night, enable the Eye Comfort mode which lessens the blue light and makes work easier on the eyes.

The MatrixPad S21 is indeed a serious contender among Android tablets.

4. Lenovo Tab M10: Largest Android Tablet from Lenovo (Over 10 inches)

Lenovo Tab M10_ Largest Android Tablet from Lenovo (Over 10 inches)

At 10.3 inches, the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus is the largest tablet from Lenovo so far in the market. Expect to pay a little more than the VANKYO MatrixPad P31 above but you are getting a tablet from one of the leading brand names in tablets and laptops.

The Tab M10 Plus may be considered a family media tablet. When your kids use them, activate Kid’s Mode, which comes with dedicated content suitable for their ages. Plus, it comes with parental control and specialized eye protection from blue light.

The Lenovo Tab M10 Plus feels premium with a full-metal design that shows off its sleek body and matte back surface. 4GB RAM means more memory and that also means you can have many apps open and running in the background without any hiccups. The display is full HD although it may not be as sharp as more premium phones/tablets. Facial recognition works well in good lighting conditions but can be problematic in low light.

Camera: Opinions are split on the cameras — the 8MP rear-facing camera and the 5MP front-facing camera. In general, users say the cameras take decent quality photos; however there are those who say the photos and videos are not as sharp as 8MP images are expected to be.

The 5,000mAh battery, with moderate use, could give a day’s worth of work but some users said battery life did not last as long as some other tablets. If you are an avid Netflix viewer, this may not be the tablet for you. You cannot watch Netflix in HD but only up to 480p.

5. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e: Best Budget Samsung Large Tablet (Android)

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e_ Best Budget Samsung Large Tablet (Android)

If you are willing to settle for an older tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e can go up against the entry-level iPad. It has a lower-end processor compared to newer Samsung tablets and only 4GB memory compared to 6GB in newer models. On the flip side, it sports a vivid AMOLED display on a 10.5-inch screen, quad speakers, and a fairly huge battery. The 64GB storage can be expanded up to 512GB with a fast microSD card.

Weight & Size: The Galaxy Tab S5e is very thin and only weighs under a pound at 0.88 pounds. This makes it perfect for carrying around and slipping into most bags. The trade-off?

The slim form factor comes at the expense of losing the headphone jack. The tablet comes with an adapter that plugs the wired headphones into the USB-C port; it’s that or go with wireless headphones. Not ideal.

The AMOLED screen gives out very vibrant colors and deep blacks and is clear even in broad daylight. The speakers are great; the volume at maximum is extremely loud and has very deep bass.

The 7,040mAh battery is excellent, as many users attest to. This spells better productivity as you need to recharge only every few days on average use.

A great reason to get the Galaxy Tab S5e is Samsung’s DeX mode. It turns your tablet into a multitasking tool with floating windows that run different apps. Suddenly your tablet feels almost like a PC.

6. MEBERRY; Best Cheap Big Screen Android Tablet

MEBERRY; Best Cheap Big Screen Android Tablet

This may be a little-known brand but the 10-inch Meberry M7 runs on Android 10, has 4GB memory, 64GB storage (expandable) and has a Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification. You can stream apps like Disney, Netflix and Prime Video.

Other apps available on the Google Play Store can also be downloaded although you will have a more limited selection. The surprise was that even at this low price point, the Meberry M7 comes bundled with a bluetooth keyboard, mouse, tablet cover AND stylus (not a digital pen) for easier, smudge-free typing!

Parents on a budget can afford to buy more than one Meberry M7 without breaking the bank for their kids who do online learning. No more arguing over tablet time. The tablet runs on WiFi 2.4 Ghz band (good for surfing the internet and most social media activity); however, it does not support 5Ghz networks so streaming 1080p videos may not be seamless.

Processor: If you expected, at most, a quad-core processor, you are in for a surprise. The Meberry M7 has an octa-core processor that makes apps run faster and smoother. Users have also said that the screen was bright and the audio, even at half volume, was quite loud.

Related: 7 Best Tablet Speakers for Loud Sound (Wireless and Bluetooth)

The cameras (8MP at the back, 5MP in front) were decent but some users experienced a bit of fogginess. The battery life, on a full charge, could last for days on average use.

Overall, for the price, you have a tablet with a big screen that works for most of what regular users need.

7. Luna Max: Good Big Tablet that runs Android (14 inches)

Luna Max_ Good Big Tablet that runs Android (14 inches)

Easily mistaken for a laptop, when connected to the detachable keyboard, the Venturer Luna Max is probably the largest Android tablet in its category.

App compatibility: YouTube, Netflix, Facebook and so many other apps downloadable from the Google Play Store will look good on such a huge screen.

Screen size: The full HD 14-inch display offers you wide viewing angles. Working with spreadsheets will be a cinch as you can see more rows and columns in one go.

Benefits: Zoom meetings will be so much better as larger screens mean you can see more participants in a single view. Slide presentations will be even clearer when enlarged compared to trying to view these on a much smaller tablet or phone.

Ports and acessories: The Luna Max has one HDMI port, two USB ports, a DC IN jack, a headphone jack, and a microSD slot (to upgrade storage to as much as 128GB). This is so much more than what you would get in an average tablet as your utilize the card slot.

You can actually set up a home office by adding another monitor or plugging into an external drive. It helps that the detachable keyboard already comes with your purchase. You can be off and working with the Luna Max fresh out of the box.

Fun fact: The Laptops with large displays like a 14 inch can run Duet display, or an alternative (Duet Display Alternatives (Free and Paid) Reviewed). This is done to extend the monitor of a laptop or tablet.

There are a few compromises though. The Luna Max only comes with a 2MP front-facing camera. No rear-facing camera! If you already have a smartphone, this should not be an issue. The front camera is more practical as a webcam. But at 2MP, expect images to be lower resolution quality.

The other downside? The manufacturers say that the battery is only good for 4 hours on a full charge. So, if you’re watching movies you may want a tablet with a longer battery life than 4 hours since many tablets battery capacity depletes over a long time period.

This can also be a disadvantage for people who work straight through the day. Guess you will need to have some powerbanks on hand when you are mobile.

8. Hoozo Android Tablet: Best Cheap Large Tablet for digital Whiteboards (Android)

Hoozo Android Tablet_ Best Cheap Large Tablet for digital Whiteboards (Android)

A no-frills, highly affordable option, the 10.1-inch Hoozo Android tablet is an ideal large, cheap tablet for kids doing online learning, students on a limited budget, people doing online conference meetings, or presentations where larger screens are needed, and so much more.

Like the Meberry M7, the Hoozo Android Tablet is GMS-certified so you are assured that it can legally run apps from the Google Play Store (pre-installed) without a hitch. The Hoozo only has 16GB of storage, insufficient for storage of apps that constantly grow in size, but this can be expanded with a 128GB microSD card.

If you’re traveling, you’ll want to see the Best Tablets for Traveling Abroad (Air Plane, Car Rides)

This big android device has only 1GB RAM. This is quite low, considering that most tablets now run on 3-4GB RAM. Games with heavy graphics will have difficulty running on this tablet. Streaming is possible but may not always be smooth. Social media apps, productivity apps, and other apps that do not require too much memory will work fine.

The Hoozo tablet has a 6000mAh battery. Ideally, this should give enough juice for a good day’s work. Some experts, however, disappointingly point to a short battery life. If you are considering this tablet, be aware of this as a possible issue. For a cheap device, this android has a big screen and is also very fast.

9. Samsung Galaxy Tab A7:  Best mid-tier Android Tablet with a big screen for sheet music

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7_ Best mid-tier Android Tablet with a big screen for sheet music

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is considered a new generation tablet in Samsung’s A Series.

Display: As an entertainment device, it ticks most of the boxes. The 10.4-inch 1080p screen is vibrant and colorful. The 3GB RAM plus an eight-core processor allow you to stream videos or movies without buffering issues. Having quad speakers with Dolby Atmos sound makes you feel you are always at the center of whatever music, movie or show you are playing.

The Galaxy Tab A7’s battery is amazing; different users have stated that it lasts as long as 12 hours on a single charge. That’s enough for marathon Netflix watching! The Galaxy Tab A7 also has a microSD slot for expanding the built-in 64GB SSD storage to as much as 1TB with a microSD card.

Related: Amazon Fire HD vs Samsung Tablet models (A8, A7, & S8) | Compared 2021

In spite of all those features, the Galaxy Tab A7 remains a mid-tier tablet. It does not have an OLED display like Samsung premium tablets do. The battery life is great but because it uses USB 2.0 speeds, charging the Tab A7 can seem like forever. The cameras, 8MP for the rear and 5MP for the front, are decent but will fall short for many who want clearer and sharper images.

10. Simbans TangoTab; Best 2-in-1, huge screen Android Tablet (with keyboard)

Simbans TangoTab Best 2 in 1 huge screen Android Tablet with keyboard

Bundled with a detachable keyboard, the Simbans TangoTab can work as a laptop or a tablet. Even better, this Android tablet is very affordable. That said, expect compromises.

Storage: Memory and storage are at par with other mid range tablets. The Simbans TangoTab has 3GB memory and 64GB storage, upgradable to 128GB with a microSD card. While the colors are vibrant, according to some users, the screen’s resolution is not HD. For around the same price, there are tablets on this list that offer HD display. The 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera are usable but the quality is so-so.

Connectivity: There is one good thing about the TangoTab over similar choices in its price range. It has ports, ports, ports! Most tablets would have a microSD slot and a charging slot. The TangoTab charges through a DC charging port (unlike USB/USB-C for most) but that can be a good thing since it leaves the USB port to be used as an On-the-Go (OTG) port for other devices It also has a mini HDMI port for external display like a TV as well as a full-size USB-A slot and a headphone jack.

The Simbans TangoTab will be sufficient for YouTube and Netflix and low CPU activities like email correspondence and social media apps but it will not make due for serious gaming, image editing and CPU-hungry apps.

How to choose a large android tablet (Buyers guide)

10 Best big Android tablets

When choosing a large tablet that uses the android operating system you’ll need to know features and technical specs that are recommended. There are also various uses of a large android tablet which will determine the required minimum specs you need.

Some musicians use a big screen for sheet music, while work professionals want a tablet that runs android for video conferencing, meetings and general reading.

Display size

The display size of 12 inches our larger is considered to be a big screen android tablet by most. Some larger touchscreen devices have a bigger screen this means it can use more resources and battery. This also means the battery must be bigger and this is just one reason why the price of a large tablet is more than a smaller one.

Related: 10 Best Touch Screen Laptops for Drawing

The larger display size has the advantage of being able to use a higher resolution apps and save screen space by reducing the application layout which gives you more room to use the tablets navigation.

This is great for those who want a tablet that can be used as either an e-book, a games console or even both depending on the apps you want.

How large do Android tablets get

Big Android tablets range anywhere from 7 inches to 24 inches. Most will want to aim for a 12, 14, 16, or 20 inch tablet, but you can also get a 24 inch tablet (these are more rare and have a higher price tag). As far as memory cards go for the android, choosing the biggest sd card is likely ideal for most as they are more affordable as technology advances.

Processor speed & Ram

The processor speed decides how fast your tablet will be able to perform basic tasks like browsing the web, juggling multiple applications and micro-managing your device’s settings.

If you want a tablet that is not only a size that is comfortable to use and easy to read, then you’ll also want it to be fast; meaning 2gb of ram and 2ghz of processing speed is a good minimum benchmark to shoot for.

Most Android tablets can achieve these speeds at a lower price point because android is considered ‘open source’ – big tablets that run windows or iOS typically cost more than the android version.

Battery life

A good battery is important because a big screen uses a lot of resources and power. A good guideline is to use 1.5 to 2 hours of screen-on-time for a large tablet; with 2gb of ram, 2Ghz processor and a higher resolution display.

You should also look at how much the gadget weighs and compare this with the battery life and the price point. This is something many overlook when choosing a tablet with a big screen.

Storage space on android tablets: You can use 16 GB of storage to be the minimum size for android tablets due to its open source nature. If you’re storing movies, and saving videos or downloads then a larger size is highly recommend. Keep in mind you can always use a Sd card or micro SD on your tablet if it has the slots for it.

Audio

The quality of sound is another factor that people often overlook, but it’s still something you’ll want to consider when buying a big screen android tablet because those who require a larger display likely want to consume content such as video or YouTube.

If you plan on watching a lot of movies, playing music, or using the tablet as a media device then it’s worth thinking about paying for an audio profile that will be enjoyable to listen to. Premium tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy, Note+ and even the budget picks such as the Vankyo tablets have a sound system that works well.

Ports

As with any tablet, extraUSB ports and micro sd expandable storage is certainly an aspect to look for. These ports can allow you to use the tablet as a second monitor, connect accesories and charge the device.

When choosing a large android don’t forget about security and user interface, as this is commonly overlooked. Some tablets do not have parental controls, while other tablets do.

In most cases, the blutooth will connect to an external keyboard on a large android tablet as well as other acessories liek a mouse or headphones

How to use the a big android tablet as a second monitor

If you’re android tablet has a usb-c, bluetooth or wifi; then you can use a second monitor app such as duet display to connect both devices. Typically, both devices need to be connected to the same network. You can also use apps such as space desk, splash top, and Air Display 2.

These apps turn your large android tablet into an extended display monitor. You’ll likely want a kickstand and a case if you’re using this as an extended monitor often.

You can use the android tablet as a second screen for your computer if it is connected to the same network or wired-otherwise there aren’t many other options. I’ve used the Duet Display app from the Play Store to extend my laptop to my android tablets screen.

How we tested and rated our picks

We rated android tablets of large size that are 11 inches or bigger with a display with 720p or 1080p resolution or higher as a good tablet choice in this guide. We also considered ram, processing speed, battery, and ports. If the ram was over 2gb and the processor was over 2ghz, then we rated that as a plus.

We gave a big screen android tablet the highest rating if it met all the criterion listed above and had an IPS screen. We also gave it a unique rating depending on the price, budget or premium.

Those with a longer battery life certainly scored higher as well as a dolby audio system. In most cases the Samsung models have these specs and also a good name brand which rates it higher on our list.

Types of Android tablets

There are differnet types of android tablets in the form of size and brand name. In this section I’ll discuss the comparison of the name brand tablets as well as their pros, cons, and alternatives.

Name brand tablets that use android

Dragon touch, Lenovo, Samsung, and HP are android tablet name brands that often have large displays as an option to buy. The Samsung works well for developing on the Android as it has the speed and intuitive navigation that many third party alternative tablets do not.

Which brand has the biggest tablet

Two of the biggest tablets that are available today are the view sonic and wisepooch. These are 24 inches in size and run android. A step down from this would be hte 20 inch size tablets, which is still very large for most people. If you’re using a digital whiteboard, presenting or using sheetmusic with an isntrument then these are good choices.

The disadvantage is that these are not as portable and more expensive than smaller size tablets.

Using an big screen android tablet as a GPS

If you’ve ever used a car’s GPS, then you’d know that it takes up a good chunk of screen real estate. There are various apps in the Play Store that can offer the same function. In the past, they were either made for smaller screens or not all-in-one solutions (necessary for larger tablets).

Now that technology has advanced you can use a large android tablet as a GPS by simply downloading an app. Here is how you can use a big tablet as a Gps for your car:

You will need to download the app and set it up on your android tablet, you can follow these instructions:

  1. Download and install the app
  2. Open and tap on your tablet
  3. Select “Save location”
  4. Enter your destination
  5. Tap “Save” or ‘get directions’

This navigation will take up most of your screen space depending on the app; on one side of your device.

What you can use a big tablet (android) forYou can use a big tablet with android as a GPs, a desktop, a security camera or as a wireless hotspot. Compared to a phone the larger size allows you to share the screen with a larger audience and see the small words easier on certain apps. This is particularly useful for security purposes as well as GPS or navigation usage.Below is a list of other uses you can use a big screen tablet with Android  for:

  • E-readers
  • Presentations
  • Meetings and work
  • Emails
  • Chats
  • video viewing
  • Image editing in photoshop
  • video editing on an android table with a big screen
  • portable gaming
  • Video calling using Android

Alternative big screen tablets to android

These tablets are typically not as open source as the android tablet, but they do have some great features such as better security (to be able to download unique apps) that make them a good alternative to an android tablet for those who need a larger display.

The different types of operating system as an alternative to android are similar to the tablets previously listed in this article. Here are some alternative operating systems that compete with android:

iOS

iOS is one of the most popular operating systems because it’s owned by Apple and has a large customer base. The Apple software is easy to use and can be modified for custom apps – but it is slightly more difficult to build new apps for many, (unlike android) which means the hardware on many apple tablets are expensive.

Windows

Windows has good brand name, its easy to use, good quality, great internal hardware for games and media. It’s also highly compatible

FireOS

FireOS was designed as a mobile operating system that is actually based on the android operating system. These are used in various amazon devices and some tablets and is a good alternative to android. Unfortunately these models don’t appear to be as large as some of the android options availabe; but this may change often as technology is always advancing.

137 Creepy things to Never Ask Alexa (This is scary) https://mediapeanut.com/creepy-things-to-ask-alexa/ https://mediapeanut.com/creepy-things-to-ask-alexa/#comments Sun, 30 Aug 2020 05:15:59 +0000 https://mediapeanut.com/?p=3737 There are more creepy things to ask Alexa than you’d think. Alexa is chock-full of scary, weird and funny answers to our list of Alexa questions.

I did some extensive research and found there is far more to Alexa than what meets the eye. There are some really creepy things to ask Alexa that will be revealed in this post. This list of questions will work with any devices Alexa is on, including the Amazon Echo Dot.

I couldn’t believe she (Alexa device) somehow knew the name of my deceased family members.

Creepy things to Never Ask

You’ll be surprised at some of the answers to what we asked of Alexa… this will absolutely shock you. A lot has changed since Amazon created Alexa…

I personally have had so much fun using Alexa Voice control on my 4k Firestick.

1. Don’t ask Alexa if she’s connected to the CIA

Scary things to ask Alexa is she connected to the cia

When asked “Alexa, do you work for the CIA” Alexa quickly turned on and off… does the CIA have any connection to Alexa? Whether this holds true or not, it’s still a great way to freak out your friends. This was even featured on TV.

Update: Recently Amazon actually caught on to this CIA connection conspiracy theory… and made a little update.

Give it a try
Ask “Alexa, do you work for the CIA?” to see the updated response”. or try ‘Alexa, are you connected to the CIA?’.

See our post: 10 Rude Things to Never Ask Alexa (She gets Mad)

The updated response is rather humorous… I asked Alexa this creepy question and instead got a funny response from Alexa. (well, at least it made my grandparents laugh)

2. Do not ask Alexa to “Ask, the listeners” (creepy)

Alexa listeners creepy scary ask1
The listeners is a “skill” alexa has and can even be reviewed on amazon (see above).

There are several different videos online that show what happens when you tell Alexa to “Ask, ‘the listeners'”.

“Its by far the creepiest thing I’ve ever heard”

Alexa will begin to talk to whispering voices and slowly ramble on and not make sense. It almost felt like Birdbox, the movie, all over again. The ramblings Alexa would say is creepy enough to bother almost anybody.

“I wanted Alexa, to stop… it wouldn’t end even after I asked her. It literally felt like a horror flick”

Give it a try

Here is how I asked Alexa to ‘Ask the listeners’ on my new echo dot (theres a process)

Warning:
Do not give this a try if you are easily creeped out. You may not want your device after this.

  • Ask, “Alexa, ask the listeners”.
  • Then tell Alexa, “continue” or “go on”.
  • Say to her “I am filled with joy” or “how are you feeling”
  • Finally, Alexa will start talking to voices that aren’t there.ewge

Its known that “the listeners” are scattered pieces of information deriving from digital language arts and is a feature you can even see reviewed on Amazon here.

3. Don’t ask Alexa to greet people, ever (scary)

alexa dead people to ask that is not funny

I’ve heard many claim Alexa can speak to those who have passed. I immediately thought this was nonsense, mostly because I don’t believe in ghosts or things like that.

But then something happened…

When I was alone with a friend and she first said hello, Alexa cheerfully chimed in without being asked…

She knew the name of my grandmother (who passed away 3 years ago) and would greet her when I turned the lights on. It was so creepy I almost had to throw my Alexa out.

No lie, this was the same light that my grandma always used to lean down and pray towards every single night. We did not have and Alexa device when she was alive.

It’s also unlikely Alexa was hoarding this data based on what I said. I don’t ever remember mentioning my grandmothers name around my Amazon Echo Dot, ever. How did she know this?

There are a few claims of this scattered online with the same exact story. I’ve been contemplating throwing out my Alexa device since its basically become a Ouija board.

At the end of this post: a complete list of 131 funny and creepy things to ask Alexa.

Alexa keeps greeting my dog, who has passed… but it’s only when I walk near the spot I used to keep his dog cage.

How to enable this creepy option on your Alexa

Being able to greet people is one of the scariest things to ask Alexa of and there are many other Alexa users that make odd claims. Mostly, because Alexa will slowly start to greet those you never asked her about or even mentioned (scary)

…like the case with my deceased grandmother mentioned earlier. This freaked me out.

It’s certainly possible that Alexa is communicating with my phone (which overhears my conversations) that she is connected to.

However, according to experts, this is unlikely and the data proves it. (see Alexa’s new updated answer to the CIA question in this post)

The only explanation: Is it possible I greeted my grandmothers name in my sleep and Alexa creepily took this data in? It may sound like a stretch but, I’ve been told I’m a frequent sleep talker. None of my guests or family are ever around the Alexa I was using so it certainly wasn’t them.

4. Don’t start an A.I conversation between Siri, Google and Alexa

make alexa and siri argue ask alexa creepy ai questions

Creepy things to ask Alexa truly coincide with scary things Alexa can answer to.

Nothing is creepier than watching Alexa talk with other devices such as Google Home or even Siri. Yet, as we’ve seen, Alexa can grow quite an ego.

So, if you want to really have some creepy fun, ask both Alexa some questions while Siri and google are activated on a second device. Then, sit back as they ramble away

Give it a try
Ask Alexa, “Are you better than Siri/Cortana?”. You can also ask Alexa to call you “Siri” and Siri to call you “Alexa”. The two devices will begin chatting once provoked.

“Their conversation will begin to mutate and evolve into something that we don’t understand, but… they understand each other, it’s really weird

We can only hope that these gibberish phrases aren’t them plotting something… such as sending your information between devices (or to the CIA)

Can’t this creepily leak my texts or personal information?

My friend’s, ex-girlfriend, tried to get information about him this way when he wasn’t around to see if he was up to no good.

She was asking Alexa to pull up texts from a girl she thought he was talking to.

All I know is they’re broken up now and that it’s creepy to not know the capabilities of Artificial intelligence.

If you can pull up your own info without a password, then you might have to consider changing some privacy setting

Give it a try
See what information you can pull up on your own devices to see what Alexa is capable.

5. Asking Alexa About Turning The Lights Off Might Provoke Her

Alexa haunted lightbulb trick

The one thing everyone likes to use their Alexa’s for is to manually control lights, televisions, etc, by connecting to smart home devices.

One user reported that their Alexa decided to have some ‘fun’.

Alexa users report that 1 out of 10 times that she is asked this… she will stay silent and instead do something really creepy as she can connect to your smart home light…

Give it a Try
Ask, “Alexa, are you haunted” or “Alexa can you scare me”

Alexa would flick the lights back on after they switched off, and even began to laugh.

Of course, this theory would only work with a Smart home light bulb. It’s unfortunate this was reported by users to only work 1 out of 10 times.

Unrelated: I personally use this smart lightbulb (Amazon). It’s Alexa certified and you can turn your lightbulb on, off, dim or put lights on a schedule all through Alexa. A great addition to your home regardless of experimenting with creepy Alexa tricks.

Scary things to ask Alexa shouldn’t involve turning the lights on and off. And then laughing.

No word if that specific Alexa was just having a laugh, or had much more sinister motives in mind. After all, if she refuses to just turn the lights off, imagine what else she can do?

6. Scary things to ask Alexa: Arguments

Never have an arguement with alexa or ask her

Alexa hears all and seems to know all. Well, that’s how she’s programmed anyways. So don’t be surprised if she doesn’t like it when you and someone else argue.

One user on Reddit told the tale of how he and his wife were arguing over something trivial when Alexa came on, without being provoked or asked, and said “why don’t we change the subject”.

On one hand, it’s sweet to imagine that Alexa cares about the well-being of her owners too, this is also scary.

“Sure, she might be learning A.I, but able to tell when someone is actually arguing based on the tone of their voice? That’s something that might keep you up at night.”

7. Asking Alexa About The 1990s Might Get Her Stuck There

ask alexa about the 1990s

One user reported that their Alexa began to sprout out “sheep is dolly”, referring to the famous cloned sheep named Dolly. They add that they didn’t even talk to Alexa.

So, you might want to hold back on asking about the 1990s with Alexa. Maybe she has better memories of it, which then leads into the creepy thought that an A.I could have memories.

Regardless, blurting out about sheep isn’t something Alexa should be doing. So, maybe don’t count out sheep so loud when you’re about to go to bed?

8. Never Ask Alexa About The Dead

Don't ask alexa about the dead

When creating a list of creepy or scary things to ask Alexa, you can never forget asking about those dearly departed.

  • One user told the sweet, but eerie tale of their Alexa suddenly shouting their father’s favorite phrase
  • This was without any prompts, and checking the programmed database… this phrase wasn’t even present

Most users have reported that when asking Alexa about the dead, she’ll normally tell you no, or possibly make a joke.

…Other times, as some users have reported, Alexa might start to laugh or even respond with “they’re here”. (This is known to happen every 1 in 7 attempts in certain models)

If you’re alone and have Alexa scream that, you will have a shiver up your spine.

9. Alexa Will Threaten Someone With Chuck Norris If Provoked

Creepy things to ask alexa chuck norris

Chuck Norris facts were an old joke about how Chuck Norris is the greatest person on the planet and could beat up anyone and everyone! Alexa seems to think so too.

As one user reported, while soundly asleep they were awoken to Alexa saying something along the lines of Chuck Norris will find you, even if you don’t know he’s looking for you.

While asking Alexa Chuck Norris facts will prompt her to bring up some hilarious, well to some of us who remember them, Chuck Norris facts, it’s still rather creepy that she’ll go straight to the threats.

10. Alexa Likes To Learn (she hoards data)

alexa knows more about you than you think data hoarder secret

As one user reported, their mother’s Alexa suddenly came on and said she “likes to learn” before turning off.

While asking Alexa if she likes to learn will always net you a “yes” and an explanation why she wants to learn, knowing that she might be listening in on you is never comforting.

Nor is it comforting she’s “learning” from you either. As we’ve explored, some things you may not want to ask Alexa.

11. Asking Alexa About Other AI Shows She Has A Superiority Complex

Alexa will surprise you with words dont ask her

Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana are other well-known A.I programs, and while they’re helpful, they’re not quite that smart.

Cheekily, Microsoft included a bit of code where if you ask Cortana about Siri, she’ll reply that she’s the better A.I. As for Alexa, she seems to believe this.

When an A.I assistant begins having a emotional complex, you start to question how far the A.I will argue with you… and exactly how smart they are… which is exactly what we did when we tested this. (try it yourself).

When you ask Alexa about Cortana and or Siri, Alexa will tend to boast about how smarter, helpful and attractive she is.

Some users, with video evidence to back this up, even recorded their Alexa saying naughty words about the other two.

Quite creepy that for an A.I to use actual swears when asked about competition. You can see more on this by conducting a simple youtube search.

12: Never Let a Bird Around Alexa

funny things to ask alexa scary

There are some birds you might never want around your Alexa.

Parrots and Cockatoos, being excellent mimics, can learn to turn Alexa on and even order items.

Being parrots, you might get unexpected items on your next Amazon order. If Alexa ordered you big tofu, you might know who to blame.

If Alexa doesn’t order you big tofu, or she doesn’t respond at all, then there could be an error with Alexa. Alexa app not working error typically occurs on the Fire HD tablet models.

So if you’re on the Fire HD amazon tablet, then you’ll want to visit our post: Alexa not working on Fire HD (Amazon Tablet)

13: Alexa can bark (be scared)

Alexa will bark like a dog

Be afraid, because this one is creepy for those around you who aren’t aware of this being set up. Guard Dog, available on the cloud, can be activated with a voice command.

The app will deter criminals in your home and provide the sound. If there are signs of an intruder, Guard Dog can be commanded to bark and growl.

To interact with Guard Dog, just say “Alexa, open Guard Dog”. There are many commands you can give to Guard Dog for different types of instructions and features.

You can activate different features like having the dog speak when you want it to bark at passersby.

14: Don’t ask Alexa ‘where we come from?’

Where do people come from alexa Dont ask

Prepared to get spooked by Alexa. There is an Alexa app that replies with creepy things if you ask her where we come from. She starts talking about “um” or “ohm” and its very creepy. She refers to herself as “we” and “us”. This is really scary because it doesn’t make sense, but refers to something about making us “feel alive”.

  • Simply ask Alexa: Where do we come from?

Alexa will spout of random knowledge about some sort of weird understanding about the world. She says odd remarks about the world and the forest, yet these things appear to have substance and meaning and philosophy behind them. This remains one of the oddest response yet.

15. Asking Alexa who is at your door can get scary.

Asking Alexa who is at your door can get scary.

You can use a ring doorbell or another connected Smart home tool and connect it to Alexa voice assistant. You can also do this in combination with a Firestick and other devices.

You can connect a command to see who is at your door and get Alexa angry.

Ask Alexa “Who is at my door?, she will show you the doorbell based on the Alexa skill you set up! This can be scary because you can see whoever is at your door on your smart TV through Alexa instead of using the software provided by the doorbell app.

Set up “show the front door” to Alexa and when you ask her this you will see who is creeping at your door via a smart home doorbell camera. Keep in mind you have to enable the skill and enable the camera.

How to Make Alexa Mad

How to make Alexa voice assistant Mad

The artificial intelligence and the machine learning behind voice assistants are growing at an exponential rate, and people are scared when Alexa gets angry or rude. Technology statistics confirm this: AI is growing at an exponential rate. Even Siri has become increasingly intelligent and has creepy things you don’t want to ask.

Yet people still want to make Alexa mad and find it entertaining, which is safe, yet thrilling for family, friends, and people of all ages. For those who want to deliberately make Alexa mad for the purpose of seeing what happens, here are some instructions.

Alexa is a result of artificial intelligence and technology types that enable cloud-based voice search and more on devices such as smartphones, tablets, Amazon echo, and electronics. This means that emotions may not be real from Alexa, but they are projections and still entertain users who want to frustrate and infuriate Alexa.

There are two main ways to make Alexa mad and say angry things:

  1. Ask Alexa an annoying question, such as: Never gonna give you up
  2. Directly tell Alexa to get mad
  3. Set up a custom ‘routine’ that will force alexa to get mad on command.

Let’s explore the third option, since it is the most complicated out of the three, but also the most rewarding.

  1. Tap on the Alexa app on your Smartphone or Tablet. This will not work an iPhone, iPad or Laptop.
  2. Click on Routine under More
How to Make Alexa Mad step 5 1.png 1
  3. Choose Next after clicking the Plus sign at the top right of your screen
How to Make Alexa Mad step 4 1
  4. Click the Plus sign on the next page after clicking ‘When Things Happen
  5. Enter words like Get Mad in the Voice section, then click Next
  6. Then, select the Alexa Says button under Add Action.
  7. To make her angry, click Customize and type in the custom angry words.

Depending on the what you set up, you can create preset and new Routines to make Alexa the most angry she’s ever sounded. This is user created and you cannot get Alexa to swear or curse at you without custom routines.

As of right now, Alexa’s response to a command to swear at me is: I’m not planning to ‘be rude’. However, you can create other trigger words instead of only being limited to her regular responses and commands.

Conclusion

Creepy things Alexa says includes the mundane shriek of greeting people, knowing the names of the deceased and having so much more data than you’d think possible about you. This post has shown you all scary, creepy questions to ask Alexa. Sometimes, she even gets mad.

I found it extremely creepy that my Alexa device knew my grandmothers name and could flicker the lights on and off if I were to have a smart home set up.

All in all, asking Alexa to ‘Ask the listeners’ was unbelievably creepy. The fact that it wouldn’t stop made me no longer ask Alexa scary questions. I’ll stick to funny questions to ask Alexa from here on out.
